Default What's the proper/recommended/acceptable coolant for reservoir?

the manual says civics need the Honda Antifreez Type 2, but I'm just wondering would the brand name at supermarkets just be as ok for my 2004 civic ex/si?? Or must I drive down to the dealer and buy the genuine Honda coolant and pay the premium for that?

Thanks

some say otherwise, but I don't bother with Honda branded coolant. I just buy brand name stuff, and change it pretty regularly

I just used Prestone 50/50 from the auto parts store. The only OEM Honda fluid I strictly adhere to is the transmission fluid.

+1 No need for Honda coolant, or oil either.

In the summer, I use distilled water, with DEI Radiator relief. When it gets a little colder out, I will just toss Honda Coolant in.
