Default white smoke

Pulled up outside my house today and I noticed quite a lot of white smoke coming from my exhaust, the engine was warmed up so it couldnt be that it was cold. I changed the oil 2000 miles ago and swopped from semi syn to fully syn castrol gtx magnatec, since then the engine has run smoother but it has used a little oil where as before it didnt use any, the mileage is bang on 80k which isnt a lot for this car, does anybody know how to cure this problem? cheers guys

Isn't white smoke burning coolant? Burning oil is bluish smoke.

my RX-7 used to burn a LOT of white smoke. my problem was definitely oil leaking into the engine.

but still, it could be coolant.

I dont think that the coolant has got into the engine cos theres no cross contamination, checked the oil before and it looks normal. well pi**ed me off cos i look after my civ real well so I dont understand how this has happend.

If its a blown head gasket, there might not be any cross contamination. The coolant leaks from the water jackets into the cylinder where it is promptly burned. I don't think that the oil gets that high up into C.C. b/c it would be burned by the spark plug or the hot exhaust gases.

Yeah checked dipstick, oil is normal colour and near the upper marker, and coolant seems normal to.
