my RX-7 used to burn a LOT of white smoke. my problem was definitely oil leaking into the engine.

but still, it could be coolant.

Rotary Engines are oil injected.....as for the white smoke, if it is really white, it has to be water (or antifreeze).

White = Water
Black = Fuel
Blue = Oil

see if it does it again. even when mines warmed up, if its cool outside, it can put out a bit of white smoke. give it a couple of days, and see if it always does it. but watch the temp gauge.

I think that is from the humidity in the air....another cause of water which in turn causes white smoke.........if it is coolant it is likely that you will notice the engine overheating.

While I agree with you on the colors, sometimes there is such little hint of blue that the smoke looks white-ish. People just mention white smoke because that is what they see. If it was coolant or water it is actually white steam and smells sweet. Smoke is from oil and sometimes looks bluish-white or light gray and smells toxic(burn oil).

Yeah, burning coolant or oil both have very distinctive smells. That's what I would rely on more than color alone.
