Default why the chipped p75?

so can somebody tell me why, with my d15b vtec the origonal owner would put a p75 chipped computer(both chips SST chip and vtec chip) in the car instead of the stock vtec ecu? what are the +'s and the -'s

It's cheaper than buying a p28. You can do the same thing to a P06 ECU. Some people get a bunch of non-vtec ecu's and convert them to sell them. If it's chipped properly there should be no difference.

you can do a ton of stuff with chipping. Mainly, you are adjusting the fuel map for desired power and such.
