Default Window Issue

I want to know if my windows are out or if it is maybe if it is a fuse. All windows will roll down and up only with the master controller, now If i lower any of the other windows, passenger and both in the back and try to control them with theire personal window switch they will not go up or down i have to click it to go up my self. Are the windows going out or what may be my problem? On the passenger window it will go up but only up I have to lower it down for it too start working please help

Most cars have a master switch on the driver's control panel that will disable all the other switches. This is to keep kids from playing with the windows.

I don't think it is a fuse, if it is its pretty easy to check with an ohm meter or just by looking at the fuse to see if the wire is snapped. Sometimes the contacts corrode and dont work, it hasn't happened to me but it has happened to my dads car. Thats usually easy to fix, you can use some sanding paper to sand down corrosion on the contacts but the sucky part is you have to take yoru panels appart.

That could be the defective switch then. Though I think the passenger's window is not on it, anyway with a switch on one that will go one way but not the other it's usually the switch itself.

I agree with mk378. In the driver's master switch, the main switch that controls all passenger windows is either stuck in the OFF position or the BLK ground wire leading from this switch is broken or disconnected.

To test the main switch and its BLK ground wire, removal of the door grip cover may be sufficient (picture 1). This should give you access to both master switch connectors.

You can check the main switch by performing the continuity tests shown in pictures 2 and 3. In picture 3, simply test whether wire-side female terminal C1 properly has continuity to ground.
