Default Window Retaining Clip Upgrade/Fix for 2000 Civic Si

My wife has a 2000 Civic Si (which is probably one of the most fun cars I've ever driven , that recently got broken into.

It was right in our driveway and the cop who showed up to write a report gave me the rundown on this model year.

Evidently, the theif will pry up the black window retaining clip, then just pry back the window, stick their arm in the car, unlock the door, and proceed to steal the car.

Luckily, the would be theif is an idiot and he or she left 4 perfect finger prints on the interior of the window. The cops took the prints and will get back to me.

In the meantime, I need to replace those retaining clips because both of them are now all buggered up.

Is there any aftermarket upgrade to them that makes it more difficult to break into the car this way?

I've toyed with a couple of different ideas should there not be an upgrade to that part, one of which is removing the door lock controls from the inside of the door.

If anyone has any experience with this problem or any hints it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

i dont think theres an upgrade for those clips. what u can do is get a decent alarm if it doesnt have one already and just learn how to live with the fact that civics are one of the cars that get stolen a lot.

We already have an alarm on it. That's what kept it from getting stolen this time. I'm looking for a solution to either prevent the window from being easily displaced or something that prevents you from unlocking the car easily once you do pry away the window.

I guess I'll probably invest in a Club or similar device.

Any suggestions on that front?

not sure about the upgrades, but isn't the Club easily taken off? i've also seen the one that you place on the clutch (for manual) or behind the brake pedal (automatic) that would prevent them from starting the car. but i'm not too sure how well it works, i've heard it's better than the Club, but either way, if a person was thinkin of stealing a car, i'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to bother with the club or the other thing with the alarm going off and what not.

if you're that serious about it you could maybe get an aftermarket steering wheel and a hub for the wheel so you can take the steering wheel off at night or whenever you want to
