Default Wiper Motor?

Hey all... Oregon's rainy season arrived just in time for my wipers to start acting up... More specificially, the driver side wiper arm keeps swinging up to far and sending the wiper off the edge of the windshield where it sometimes recovers and gets back on but is now occasionally getting stuck so i have to pull over to push it back down....

Is this a fixable cheaper internal wiper motor part, or do i need to just replace the whole wiper motor, and is that difficult to do on a 91 hatch?

Thanks again for the help....

That also happened to my car. The problem is in the linkage assembly. Specifically, the plastic ball and socket joints are worn out, but they aren't sold separately so you replace the whole thing. The motor itself does not cause this problem.

You may be able to work around by loosening the nut on the outside and adjusting the wiper arm on the shaft so it doesn't go up as far.

Nope! Tried adjusting the arm.. not gonna work.. and nowhere around here carries the linkage assembly so have to special order it from a dealership and have it installed...>.< I just hope they can do it soon cause Oregon just hit rainy season and this morning on the way to work it was freakin me out worrying that it was going to shatter my side window... then it got stuck and while trying to unstick it I almost went into a ditch that had a 10' dropoff at the end..<.<

Glad to know its the linkage... are they expensive?

The crazy thing is when the windshield is dry, it acts normal... when it gets wet its all over the place...>.>

Ok so I've ordered the linkage arms(the arms with the plastic bushings on the end.... ) the whole assembly with the wiper arm splined stud was a week out on delivery so I'm hoping that since those turn just replacing the arms with the bushings will work...<.< Guess I'll find out at 9am tomorrow morning...<.<

Nother $160 for parts and install into a car worth $0.
