Default Yellow headlight

My wife says she hasn't put any kind of solvent or any other harsh chemical on her driver's side headlight but it has yellowed. It's a Civic 98 LX. The other headlight is crystal clear. I noticed it a while back and figured since she washes it that she might have used some solvent of some kind on it as she has in the past used something like that to remove tar from the lower door panels. But she is pleading innocent. Anyway it still works and shines bright but you can definately see the difference in the two headlights. So, is this some kind of wierd thing that happens to aging headlights occasionally or has some gremlin peed on it or something. Replacing it is pricey. Saw a van the other day downtown that had a sign on it claiming they refinish headlights? Have you ever heard of such a thing? We are a bit puzzled about this, can you help? Thanks, george

Well George, it's time to trade that wife of yours in for a younger model.......Just Kidding!
I've never heard of headlight refinishing, except for the older model cars that had chrome by the headlight. That's the only thing I can think of is a chrome refinisher.

Its most likely the typical housing fade. I dont know of a fix (mine dont have thatn problem) but its not internal nor external, its IN the palstic. A most likely cause of damagin UV rays. You need to have them replaced.

Yes it seems to be IN the plastic and pretty dang permanent. I tried buffing with no results. Thanks for the Ebay link. Looks like a good deal to me. Thanks for your responses. Off to ebay. george
