Hello everyone!

Just wanted to introduce myself, I used to own an Rx-8 but my warranty was about to go so i thought i would trade down and get a used 01 Civic EX. Reasons being, buying a new home soon PLUSthe Rotory engine was a pain in the *** to maintain and everything was expensive for that car. it was a lot of fun, but very expensive. I was in the market for a home, and i thought if I got myself a more economical car, it would save me a lot on parts, gas, overall cost.

the 2001 Civicis Gold-2 dr coupeand a 5sp with only 70K miles on it. lets say i got it for a VERY good deal. only 8K with an old women driving it before me.


My questions are... What are the Civic's MAJOR quirks that i should be aware of? for example with the rx-8 I had to continually add oil every other gas stop, recalls etc had to be done. Are there any recalls on the TSB that i should be aware of? is there a link that i can find this information out?

I used to own 2 honda Accords(97 and 00), so i know my hondas, but thought i would ask to be sure, ( yes i have searched around). Looks like a new clutch is in store soon, due to daily usage.

we have the exact same car (mines silver) but yeah they are GREAT cars for economy. its quick enough for the freeway or around town (def. not as quick as the rx8) but it has some pep. they are VERYYYYYY low maintenance. especially mine since i put synthetic oil in my civic i only have to change the oil every 10,000 miles all i really do is wash it and put gas in it haha. either way you got yourself quite a deal thats good mileage too i bought mine for $12.5k but it had 58 k miles on it.

how's the clutch feel on yours? have you done any major changes yet? like timing belt? water pump? when would those be due?

 

timing belt and water pump don't have to be changed until arount 90,000 mi. or 100,000 mi. unless the car was driving harshly (which was probably not considering an old woman owned it)

 

i personally am not a big fan of my clutch. i dont like how deep it goes but other than that its comfortable for a DD.. all ive done is the short shifter, got the windows tinted, put some nice subs in there a sweet deck. its comfortable i like it. i think u think theres alot of maintenance to be done..its a honda man ur fine lol

 

You only change your oil once every 10,000 miles ? LMFAO
