90,000 tuneup + timing belt replacement now crank position sensor is bad?
I bought a 2003 Civic LX brand new. just went over 90,000 miles and wanted to do some preventive maintenance. I scheduled a 90,000 mile tune up and had the timing belt replaced. That ran me about $500 for each at the dealership, so the total came out to $1092. 2 weeks after I got the car back I broke down on the side of the road. The dealership picked it up, and now want an extra $350 to replace the crank position sensor. Is this something that could possibly be related to the timing belt replacement because they claim its not. Obviously the car is not under warranty. Im new to the forums and just wanted to hear a few opinions.

$500 for a tune up? I know that my cousin got a tune up on his 00 civic lx. It ran him like $400 and i looked at the invoice. They didn't even change the plugs. I think the tune up they do is kind of a rip off. I think they change the fluids and such. But on to the crank sesnor. I don't think that it is all that impossible that the dealer broke the crank sensor. I don't have any experiance with timing belt changes or crank sensors, but i do know that the the crank pulley has to be removed when you change the timing belt. So they might have broken it, but i dunno. If my car wasn't under warranty, i wouldn't take it to the dealer. I don't enjoy getting ripped off. I hope you got your water pump changed with that timing belt.
