Check engine light won't go out, im kinda new to civics. Fuel pump went out, took it to a garage asI know NOTHING about cars. Anyways, when I got the car back, and the light stays on constant, I've unhooked the negative battery cable, and it still stays on when I hooked it back up two hours later. I've called around, autozone, and another shop we have locally. They said they cannot test it, only garages and a honda dealer could do that. The dealer wants $40 to test it. Just seein what you guys think.

was the light on prior to the fuel pump failing? did the person that installed the new pump not offer to reset it, or give you information on how?

If the car is newer then 94, it is sort of a hassle to get it computered, as most of your newer hand-held computers that Autozone and other parts stores use don't connect to the port your car has :-( However I have heard of prices upwards of 100 bucks to diagnostic check computers, so 40 bucks is dooable if it will fix the light.

Only thing I can suggest is checking to see if there is a sensor somewhere close, maybe it wasn't connected or possibly a fuse.

You have to jump a connector next to the ecu then your check engine light will flash a code then you have to pull a fuse to clear it in the engine bay.Pm me and I can give you easy directions.Or you can buy the book at the part store for 10 bucks and it will tell you how to do it with pics and a code list
