Hey guys i've been reading and learning allot on this forum for the past cuple months or so but have never posted.... I have a 97 2rd d16y8 auto.... i've put a cheap offroad cone filter from auto zone on and bought a straight threw cat and put them on myself.... i've half gutted the interior... i came across this car for $500 cuz it had some front end damage i fixed myself with 2 new front fenders and a headlight... So i see it as my little budget racer... i know there's a b18 engine swap in my baby's future, Low compretion and high boost baby! but untill then i want it to be as quick as cheaply possible.... i've been wondering for awile if anyone knew where i could find a carbonfiber or fiberglass insert for my auto sunroof... i figure it weighs a good 5+ pounds on the very top of my car... dont like the sound of that.... if its not nes. i really dont want it.... anybody taken a cruise controle unit out???? i dont use it so have been wondering if its worth rippen out.... might not give me any power but its not important and needs to go. Same with AC unit..... I have a lightwieght underdrive crank pulley in my garage but heard allot of neg. stuff about them after i bought it??? install it or chuck it??? Sry i wrote a damn story... thanx for your help!

 

first and foremost welcome to the forum. also i am glad to see you read a lot before you posted. we need to get more people out of the dark here and have them post, lol. anyway if you plan on putting a new engine in i would say to not spend a whole lot of money putting bolt ons to the d16. i would just save the money for the engine swap and a turbo if that is what you are looking to do. with the a/c that can be taken out really easily, but i would not do it until you need to. also cruise control is not hard to take out either. there are people on here that have done it so someone should be able to answer the question. i can't tell you about the underdrive crank pulley. but i wish you luck in modding the car.

Hey thanx guys.... iknow i should save my money for the swap... but i dont plan on doing it very soon... and lets just say i NEED to be able to out run crown vics... i mean i have recently but it wasnt as easy as i would have liked... i got no lic. and i'm a habitual traffic offender so lets just say i got allot riddin on my sholders everytime i drive... I'm soo happy i went with this car insted of a 1985 monte carlo... i usually drive the speed limit but when i see blues... the world is my race course... I used to own a 1990 caddy allante 2 seater convertible.... it was a FWD V8.... then i got a civic and it changed my perspective on 4 bangers. Does anyone know how low i should go if i dont want to get a camber kit???? I'm thinkin 1.7inch cheap knock offs????

ehhhh.... smashed a Navigater into a telephonepole.... then been pulled over like 3 times after that for driving w/out a licence... havnt been pulled over since i've had my civic... i've had it about a year.... havnt exactly put it on the road yet... dont really drive it too much but do use it kinda on the reg. ya know. I'm actually gettin it reg. and insured in like 2 weeks soo its cool. Been **** broke....

Damn that is some bad luck, well dont worry too much. We are all broke and have to save up money if we want to do something to our cars.
