Well first off I wouldnt try downshifting til you got the whole regular driving thing going good. Pretty much if you know how to do it all you have to do is practice practice practice. Its all about getting the feel of the clutch. After a couple months shifting will be second nature.

have a friend or relative drive you to a big parking lot (that's empty) and drive slow around the whole place until your hand gets tired from shifting.
that's how i taught a friend of mine who bought an RSX but didn't know how to drive a stick.
i had him driving a five-speed in about an afternoon.

AHAHAHA, that was funny, 2 extra doors,
i would much prefer the 2d si but 4d is useful if u got a kid and your insurance is lower lol
first 500 miles on a brand new stick car is very important, try not to kill it and switch gears around 2800rpm (for my civic it is)
what u should do to learn stick is, find a long road, a very long one, first just practice first gear, when u hit 10mph stop, then restard, 1st gear is hardest and when u get the hang of it do 2, then 3 then take it out on not so busy streets (Y) gl
