Flush or not to flush the ATF? 98 aut. Civic(116k)
There are 3 Honda dealers in my city. One said the ATF needs to be flushed, and one said it needs to be drained and refilled. The second one was even amazed that the other one is going to attempt a flush. He said it only must be done during a change of transmission.
I am not sure when the ATF was changed last so I am very confused.
Any ideas?

Better safe than sorry. What color is the trans fluid? If it is anything other than red, then def change it. My cousin had his trans flushed at around 100k, he has a 01 LX.
if you drain & fill u only get about 75% out---which is ok ----but if you want it all out --go with a flush --- but it will cost more & have to be done at a shop -- but if your gonna do it yourself --i say drain & fill
