Default Hello!

Hi everyone.
I've been reading the forums for a week or so, but I'm just now deciding to join.
The names Mark, and I live in Houston, TX.

I don't have my Civic yet, and that's why I'm here.
Several friends recommended the Civic for my price range (~$6000), and after looking into the car, I realized how much I like it.
I've read all the FAQ's in this section and poked around a fair bit in the other forums too.
From what I've read I think the 99' Civic EX is the sweet spot for me.

I've been driving an auto transmission Hyundai since forever, but I think I'm ready to switch to manual--will it be like learning how to drive all over again or should that come easily?

Also, I'm an avid eBay user and am interested in buying aftermarket parts.
Many people have recommended a new air intake so I guess that's a good place to start.

Another thing I was concerned about was the full body kits you find on eBay for ~400 bucks; are those any good?
Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated before I pick up my new car (hopefully) this weekend!

Thanks alot guys

Some of the body kits are good but they are few and far between. Most have poor fitment and are all around pieces of crap. Stay stock and make it a sleeper!

welcome to the forum. the 99 ex would be a good choice if you only have $6000. i would honestly agree with these guys. do not go for the body kit just because of the hassle with fitment and what not. look into lip kits. i like lips a lot better than body kits. i took my body kit off and im going into the lip kit stage now. well good luck on getting the new car man.

Alright, so everyone thinks I should make it a sleeper, and that sounds good to me.
Is the CAI a good way to start?

it depends on what is already on the car. i would suggest some new springs and struts if they arent already on there. also maybe get some new rims and then do some exterior mods. after that then start thinking about some of the motor upgrades.
