As it says, newbee I am. Bought my 89 Civic LX from a little ol' lady from Pasadena (who's now my neighbor) for $300. It has 61K miles and is in good shape, however, I noticed the passenger CV boot (rubber one) is ripping, and I want to replace it. Are there instructions here or on a link maybe? I'd like to do this myself and save another buck.... Thanks!!!

just get a pair of new axles, then replace them both at the same time. it will save you a headache later on. i mean, they all went in at the same time, or close to it, right? so if ones going, can the others be far behind?

Yes, original 61K from Pasadena. She's about 80 now and did me a great favor.... I get to drive it around now before I give it to my son (15 now) next year for his B-Day. It runs awesome for that 1.5L only few things dryrotted though, including that boot I talked about earlier. Picked up a Haynes manual yesterday and had directions for it's replacement. For me it'll be a weekend job..... Kinda slow but with directions I can do it[sm=smiley20.gif]. I did the following immediately: Oil and filter, air filter, 4 new tires, added p/s fluid, checked tranny fluid (okay), new spark plugs, replaced 3d brake light bulb, checked belts (okay). Now the boot's next, CV joints are making no racket yet, so hoping those will last.... should I blow out/take out al the grease and repack it with new when replacing the boot? Thanks for the welcome, all.... and any other suggestions always appreciated!!!

definately replace the grease. if the boots torn, it will let in a little dust, and that can ruin a joint in no time.
