Default Hi!

Hello all, I just registered here today, I want to learn more about civics. I don't have one right now, but I'm looking to get into one, so I'm here to browse the info.

Yeah actually I'm totally not into that domestic vs. import war that is all around because I'm just a car lover altogether. I have respect for all types of cars. If I had unlimited funds the first car I'd buy would be a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR just because I love em. But yeah, I'm really looking to get out of my automatic and into a manual 4 cyl. like a Civic. Sure, I'd be taking an initial loss in HP but with all of the cheap mods out there it wouldn't take much to get more HP than my Grand Am GT has now.

Quick question, I did some searching on this forum to find the answer I was looking for and I just want to double check:

I'm looking at a certain car for sale (99 Civic EX) and here is the info I have on it:

Engine: L4, 1.6L (1595 cc); SOHC; VTEC; MFI
VIN: 1HGEJ8142XL0389

Just wondering if someone can verify for me that this is NOT a B-series motor? I found this on the forum so far:

D16Y8 1.6 16VSOHC VTECII PGM-FI 1590 127hp@6600rpm 107tq@5500rpm 96-00 Civic EX (USA)

Can someone tell me for sure if this is the right engine I'm looking at?

^ that is your engine. The B series is only in the Si model. However it doesnt take much to swap one in an EX.
