Im a new guy
Im a first timer. My name is Eric. Im new to forums but have heard good things about this one. I own a 1996 Civic Hatchback DX. Ive done a few modifications like suspension, wheels, and sound system. I just bought a turbo and plan on getting a new engine which my buddy is gonna rebuild. Which would be the best performing engine for a turbo-ed civic? GSR? B16? I also was wondering about the transmission. Which one is a good one?

RE: Im a new guy
the gsr is better, due to the more displacement, but b16 is WAY cheaper. tranny is up for discussion. some say that the longer gears in an ls tranny is better with turbo to allow the turbo to pull you through the long gears without shifting as much. personally, i believe (to a point) the shorter gears the better. the best trans will be the type r tranny, due to the LSD. it will give you really good traction. but its expensive, if money is a big issue, get the b16 trans, it has the same ratios as the type r, just no lsd.
