Default Just inherited a '98 Si... hello forum!

Hey there,

My uncle recently passed away, and I've inherited his '98 black Civic Si [EX]... it's got 159k miles, body paint is a bit rough, but interior is in great shape. He took really good care of it, always kept it well maintained, so I'm getting something that should keep me goin for a while.

I just installed a new Kenwood CD player, and I look forward to seeing all the cool mods you guys are doin to your rides.

See ya on the boards!

Sorry to hear about your uncle, Welcome to HCF. What mods are you planning on doing with your si?

I was wondering the same thing. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the si only come out in the States in '99? Which would make his '98 a Canadian si (US EX)?

Right. But the fact he said "miles" makes me doubt he's in Canada. If it's a USDM Civic, it's either not a 98, or it's not an Si.

I'll post some pics up tomorrow.

I'm Canadian, so it's out of habit to call it an Si, but you guys are right, it's an EX...

I'm not planning to do anything yet, at least not until I start getting a steady income again. Just moved to So-Cal, maybe temporarily, maybe permanent.

If I were to do some mods right now, they'd be:

- new paint
- carbon fiber hood
- projector headlights with HID
- 17" rims
- better suspension
- short shifter <- actually something I want to do soon...

Eventually, I'd like to do an engine swap, possibly a B16 or B18, upgrade brakes, full interior, body kit (something tasteful), upgrade exhaust (something with a low note)....

I'm sure I'm gonna get plenty of inspiration from you guys, seeing pics, reading threads, etc... this isn't my first car, but it is one I wanted to buy a number of years ago but never did... I could definitely have some fun with it.

If you're Canadian then by all means feel free to call it an Si, since it is one. I was just confused as to what you had.

Here are some pics... can't really tell, but the paint is in pretty rough shape.. lots of dings n scratches. I'd love to have it painted a deep metallic royal blue.

The deck I just installed is a Kenwood KDC-MP538U. I got it on clearance from Fry's for $99.. I really like it, it sounds better than the Alpine deck I replaced with it.
