Default New 98 Sedan EX Owner

Hi,

I just picked up a good running 98 Sedan EX for my 20yr old daughter. It has 150k miles and some dents on the passenger side doors. It has no muffler/exhaust past the rear door. I have now idea about the history.

Is there a way to tell if the timing belt has been changed? It looks like the valve cover gasket has been changed.

I only have a single key. If the car had remote entry, can I buy and reprogram new key fobs for it?

What happened to the muffler?

The car was picked up salvaged at an auction due to the minor damage to the passenger doors.

No way to tell

Sure, if the car came with it from the factory and you re-program the fob. I would consult a local dealership, too

Probably broke and fell off

I am pretty sure that for 96-97 and possibly 98, Keyless entry only works if the Factory OEM radio is still installed. If there is an aftermarket stereo installed, and the previous owner did not leave the OEM radio hidden in the dash somewhere with the keyless board on it still connected then you wont have keyless entry.
Here is the part# for the remote keyfob

And how to program it
