y7 isn't vtec. Was a Vtec head put onto the y7 block (mini me conversion)?

Welcome to the forum.

Read your engine code. It is stamped on the block next to the transmission. Look for a vtec solenoid on the back passenger side of the head. Simple enough.

Before you ask, you cannot install a B series head onto a D series block.

Oh I know bout the head not being able to be swaped onto the d swries, I just found it and plan on rebuild it and doing maybe stage 3 cams, if not just do a b20b motor, my first ek and my first honda so undecisive bout my swaps

Cam, just one.

Stage 3 is relative to the company you are buying from. I had a crower stage 2 cam and a bunch of head parts and it shifted the power band wayyyy too high. I wasn't making extra power until like 6k. Which was pointless for the street. If you are going with something that aggressive, be sure to research higher compression block builds and tuning! Good with your build/swap!

Any particular reason for B20b? Just wondering.

If im correct irs the same engine the crvs have in them, I drove my friends and it was very torquey, loved the feeling but I have heard its kinda hard to make that one work, so im leaning more towards a b18 vtec and boosting that

B18b with a vtec head (ls vtec), or B18c1 (gsr motor - vtec), or b18c5 (type r motor - vtec). Generally speaking, it would be better to go with a B18 rather than a b20 if you plan on boosting in the future.

B18C1 is going to be substantially less money and easier to find than an ITR (B18C5) engine.
