Hi Guys,

It's great to join such a knowledgeable group of people! Some of the articles on here show a wealth of information I didn't think I'd find outside a honda dealership.

Here's the thing. I'm buying a new (to me) Civic. It's a 1994 2-door coupe. It's got a B18B1 engine swap, cold air intake and Magnaflow exhaust.

The seller has a 2.5" JDM Cat-Back exhaust that he will throw in with the car for an extra $400. I'm kinda tight on money right now and this purchase is draining me, is the extra $400.00 a deal for the exhaust system, or should I just wait and put on something better when I get the cash.

I don't wanna miss out on an awesome deal, but I don't really need the new exhaust right now.

Any advice?

Thanks guys!

Oh no, there are def JDM exhausts 'cause a google search brings back a whole bunch of stuff. But either way, if it's not a real common performance part I won't even bother. Save the extra 400 for something else.

First off, welcome to HCF! What trim civic are you looking at (i.e. EX, LX, DX, etc)?

The b18b1 is a decent motor to work on with lots of potential.

I would pass on the exhaust, $400 is a little steep. Everytime I have heard a "JDM" exhaust, they are loud and ricey IMO. I would try and find a few name brands of "jdm" exhausts on youtube and see what you think. Youtube is your friend when it comes to stuff like that. You will get a general idea of what the car would sound like.

With $400, I would get a nice name brand exhaust such as the Apex-i WS2, or the Greddy SP2.....and it would be brand spankin' new.

Sellers on ebay will put JDM in the description of just about any cheap knock-off part to trick people...

For example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-00...Q5fAccessories

^^ But don't assume it is one of those ebay junk ones. There are actual exhaust kits from japan, which are not offered in the US. They are rare, but it doesn't change the fact that they are annoyingly loud IMO.
