Default New Civic VX

Ok, so I am pretty new to Honda world but I am loving it. Never before has there been so many aftermarket performance parts available for one car. Or none that I have owned. Anyway my question is this. What is the difference between the DX and VX , I know the DX comes with 102hp while the VX comes with 92hp. Where does the DX get the extra 10hp? Or where I could look it up?

I got it from this.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Si / DX / VX / CX
Wheelbase 101.3" / 101.3" / 101.3" / 101.3"
Overall Length 160.2" / 160.2" / 160.2" / 160.2"
Vehicle Height 53.0" / 53.0" / 53.0" / 53.0"
Vehicle Width 66.9" / 66.9" / 66.9" / 66.9"
Curb Weight 2,326 lbs. / 2,178 lbs. / 2,094 lbs. / 2,094 lbs.
Brakes 4 Wheel Disc / 2 Wheel Disc / 2 Wheel Disc / 2 Wheel Disc
Engine 1.6L 4 Cyl. / 1.5L 4 Cyl. / 1.5L 4 Cyl. / 1.5L 4 Cyl.
Stroke 3.54" / 3.54" / 3.33" / 3.33"
Bore 2.95" / 2.95" / 2.95" / 2.95"
Horsepower 125 @ 6600 / 102 @ 5900 / 92 @ 5500 / 70 @ 5000
Torque 106 @ 5200 / 98 @ 5000 / 97 @ 4500 / 91 @ 2000
Fuel Capacity 11.9 gal. / 11.9 gal. / 11.9 gal. / 11.9 gal.

DIfferent Intake / Exhaust maybe? I could guess all day.

Thanks in advance

Where do you live? those are different figures than I have. I only have the si, ex, lx, and dx versions over here. Unless you have the solar power model?

Welcome to the forum! From those stats the DX civic has a longer stroke than the vx, but considering it has the same stroke and bore as the Si it should be a 1.6l in the case. I'm pretty sure the shorter stroke in your car is whats making the 10hp difference.

Thanks for the reply. I found some stats on procivic.com thats says I have a VTEC-E. You wouldn't happen to know what the E stands for? I'm guessing economy or something.

These are the stats

1992 Honda Civic VX
Generation: 5th
Chassis Code: EH2
Engine Code: D15Z1
Engine Specs: 1.5L 16V SOHC VTEC-E, 92hp @ 5500 RPM

Thanks agian-Kane

you have the D15B2 which is a 12 valve head, the D15B7 has the 16 valve head and that is where the extra 10hp comes from.

vtec-e is a slightly different version of vtec that uses variable valve timing to get better gas mileage, not boosting the performance as much as normal vtec or i-vtec.
