Hi guys/girls, I(Kevin) just recently picked up my first Honda car. I've had many cars but never a Honda. I received a great deal on this vehicle and looking to fix it up over time for my winter ride so I would like it to be bullet proof. I know VERY Little about thisvehicle and could usequite a bit of help.

Things I know from the buy:
Year: 1998
Make:Honda
Model:Civic 4dr
Trim:Ex
Mileage: 219,344 miles.

Known problem: Transmission needs to be rebuilt
Service Done: Timing chain/belt was changed at 114,000 miles along with the distrubutor(sp), and water pump.
Options: Cloth Int, Automatic, Power Windows, Door Locks, Sunroof, Cruise Control, Abs

Some quick easy questions that I have: What size engine is in this car? Does it have 4 way disc brakes or Drums in the rear? What kind of gas mileage should I expect when the trans is rebuilt?

its not necessarily a y8... the vtec was an option for the ek ex's

 

VTEC is standard on EXs.

So after 8 intense hours my honda is back to life. Here's a list of things we took care of while we had the trans. out:

Front Pads
Lower Left Engine Mount
Upper/Lower Radiator Hoses
Heater Hoses
Fuel Filter
Oil Change
Wash/Wax ...lol
