I am a former inner-city guy that didn't start driving until my 30's after moving out here to Las Vegas.

I had a Honda Nighthawk motocycle at one point, and always wanted a Honda Civic. Quality used cars were hard to find for a reasonable price, and the new ones look like baked potatoes, IMHO.

I liked the 1992-1995 models the most.

Well, I finally scored a 1995 Civic DX (non-Vtec), manual everything (wich I wanted for reliability), 105,000 miles, and not a terrible price.

My other car is a Minivan for my kids ... guess which one I prefer driving?

Being a former bicycle messenger and subway straphanger, I know little about motor vehicles. I am not mechanically inclined on cars, so I will probably ask questions which seem incredibly stupid to most everyone else.

So let me start with the first one.

What is that pinging noise that continues for 10 minutes after I shut the car off after a long drive, or when I am idling at a stop light.

 

Second question, Why was (non-"v"-"t"-"e"-"c") asterisked out?

Is Veee tech a sore spot?

its not a beeping. its a pinging, and its the exhaust system cooling down, and the metal starting to re-compress.

 

dood, you started late in life, so you have to make up for lost time.

buy the most GINOURMOUS turbo you can find and drop it into a swapped integra engine. then drive like your hair is on fire every day until the day you die.
