To play with, I went from a D16 to a JDM D15B. What alot do not know is with D series it is never a good thing to "stroke" them out but it is better to "de-stroke" them to acheive a better rod/stroke ratio. It on a whole gives a better overall balance to the engine making it more adbted to making more power than it is allready and also allows a free'er reving assembly meaning it will like to go high in the RPM's.

I'd love to get my hands on the short block, the D14Z is a 3 stage vtec am I correct?

Never even heard of this motor. Stage 3 vtec, what is that? And how much hp does the little motor pack?

3 stage vtec = econamy vtec like on the 96-00 hx's, I'd say it is around 115 or so hp. There are alot of honda engines that never touched the U.S. that alot of people do not know about.
