Hello All.

I am new to the Honda Civic... I just got a 1993 Civic DX 4dr auto. completely stock.
I bought it from a friend who works for a used car dealer, not the smartest idea.

My Civic and I are off to a rocky start. The fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail started leaking, then the water pump started leaking. I've only had it a week, the dealer is going to back up this car and get it fixed thankfully. I know a good bit about cars, specifically compacts, but I'm pretty unfamiliar with Hondas. What engine is in this car? What the heck does VTEC stand for anyways? As far as I know I have a 1.5L 16V SOHC non vtec, is that correct?

My previous car was a 1994 Ford Escort LX. 1.9l. I hated selling it, but i dogged the **** out of it and spun a rod bearing. My stock Civic is about an even match with the Escort that had an intake, exhaust, and MSD coil & wires... so I think once fixed right the Civic and I will get along great!

There's so many more parts out there for these cars compared to my ford... I would post some pictures, but everyone knows what a stock black Honda Civic looks like. My first mods are going to be an AEM short ram intake, and some type of custom catback which I haven't picked parts for yet... Intake and Exhaust, and possibly upgraded plugs and wires are all I plan to do to the engine. anything else i do will be visual and handling upgrades. I think i've got a pretty good platform to build upon, I got stuck with an automatic, but that's ok because I don't plan on racing or building massive power out of it...

dood. my first new car outta school was a 93 civic hatch.

i loved that damm car. It's still on the road today with over 250,000 miles on it. My brother uses it as a daily driver.

you can find parts for the car in junkyards or you can buy them new, but it'll cost ya. nothing's free.

but get this, the cars will last for a lifetime if you take care of them.

OK, if you wanna see pictures you can go to community.webshots.com/michaelddjr look under mikes escort on the last page... but while you're there you can check out my other stuff too, my Escort was ok... My Datsun 280zx is a work in progress as well.

Like I said though the Civic is bone stock... it is ridin on 13's with no wheel covers right now.... But it's going to be some fun once i get it right... The price was right so I jumped on in...

Civic's in the shop right now... I had the thing a week, and the water pump went. Also I found out the radiator was patched and it was leaking, plus the fuel line going to the fuel rail leaked... I went to the dealership and raised hell, they are having it repaired now.

Once I get it back my Sony CDX-FW700 is going in, and I've got pioneer 6.5's four ways for the front and rear that are going in.
