Newbie from NW Chicago burbs
Not only am I new to the site I'm new to Hondas all together. I've worked on them at body and service shops and have tons of friends that have Civics but I just got my first one for a commuter car to get me to and from work. My daily drive is about 80 miles and my Trailblazer SS was only getting about 14 to 17 mpg and was costing me about $150 per WEEK to drive it.
I picked up a 99 Civic Si with 176,000 on the Vtec that seems to be running ok. I put on 2 rear tires, and it needs a bit of paint and body work, a new windshield (impact crack) and some other odds and ends but otherwise it seems alright. There's an odd bang noise coming from the front and rear suspension when I hit a decent bump at parking lot speeds that I don't hear when speeds increase. No grind or clunk when I turn so the CV's are good, a bit of a whine/humm from what seems like the passenger rear which I think is a bad wheel bearing and thats about it. The wonderful idiots at NTB (that took 2 1/2 hours to put on 2 rear tires) said there was nothing they could see but they're pretty sure its hitting the bump stops because its been lowered a bit. Oh and did I mention they inspected the suspension while it was sitting on the ground idling and there wasn't a single person within 30 feet of it? Those guys must be GREAT to diagnose a suspension noise from driving it around to the bay! If I had X-ray vision I'd definitly want to work there!!! Regardless as soon as my buddies back gets a little better I'm gonna have him throw it on the lift and give it a good once over.
Regardless I'm glad I found this forum as it seems to be just like the Trailblazer SS owners site that I'm on and since I'm new I'm sure I'll be asking plenty of dumb questions.
Here's my daily driver commuter car project.
Any help you guys can give will be awesome.

This is why I bought the Civic (which I've wanted an Si for a while). The MistreSS doesn't get great mileage and I want her to last. 06 Trailblazer SS, 400HP, AWD, Magnaflow muffler and a few other goodies but its stock for the most part.

I do expect to get flamed on here for the bumper and hood....thats why I joined THIS forum and not the "ricey" other ones out there (I was lurking as a visitor for a while). Just a question tho. Is the Si bumper the same as a normal Civic from that year? And where's the best/cheapest place to go for OEM style body panels?

Hmm... doesn't look too lowered to me, at least in the pics it doesn't. And by the way OP, I forgot to say welcome! Nice Si you have there; Milano red is my second favorite color for the 99-00 Si's, bet you can't guess what my first is?
