Default problems with ecm or crank shaft positon sensor or both

I have a 2001 Honda civic EX, 5 speed. Mechanic told me I was getting false codes from ecm, one of them being the crankshaft position sensor was bad or out of range. Honda technician said ecm was bad or going bad. I sent the ecm to AES to repair. I got it back and installed the ecm and now the car acts like it has a rev limiter at 3000 rpm. A mechanic friend pulled a code off of it and it was a p0336 which was a crank shaft position sensor out of range. I went ahead and replaced crank shaft position sensor and nothing changed. Does anyone have any ideas on what else to check? I have contacted AES but I have not heard anything from them.

Thanks

There is probably a Crankshaft position sensor in the distributor that is commonly overlooked.

Default I'm having same problem, did you figure it out?

Changed the crankshaft sensor 3 times and it's still reading that code. I even changed the computer and paid dealership to reset keys to the computer and it's still not right. It cranks over about 6-8 times before starting and then it starts sputtering when driving it.

Check that the timing belt is in time. I think that code results when the crank and cam sensors don't agree. Timing belt out of time will also result in terrible performance. Old timing belts can skip a tooth, if that has happened to you, you need to replace the belt.
