RE: Running Cold
i've found that just letting my civic idle doesn't actually warm the car up any unless its in a garage
driving is normally the quickest way to get the temp up (mine seems to get up to a decent temp in no time at all... maybe a half mile down the road)

There more you post about your problem, the more I'm inclined to blame your thermostat. It can hurt you both ways - if it does not open properly, engine would overheat. But if it does not close properly (or if it is removed alltogether), your car behaves exactly as you described. How did you test your thermostat to make sure it works?

well i am attending college to learn mechanics an i tested it in this kettle type thing that tells you when the stat opens and closes. but i have been given another to try by i friend that works for def so i will try it an report back.

RE: Running Cold
This sounds good. If it opens and closes at correct temps, there are two things you want to pay attention to:
- thermostat closes completely when it is closed, so coolant can go only through relief valve;
- thermostat is mounted correctly with all rubber seals in place, so there is no bypass for coolant flow.
I don’t have any other ideas at the moment.
