Wanting a Civic

Wanting a Civic
Hiya!
Well, this may be a great sin, but I joined, and I don't have a Civic (gasp). However, that's the next kind of car I'm wanting. What year, make and model does everyone recommend?
Just for parameters, I'm wanting to mod extensively (this would be my first car to do so with, so nothing uber expensive), older, and hopefully not more than 3K.
Thoughts, suggestions, random comments... All are welcome!
Thanks!

88-91's usually need more work but become more reliable and uncommon so you get that "wow" factor without ricing it out.
92-95's are more common to mod and there are alot of different things u can do
96-00's have a good mod collection out there, alot of different engine swaps available, relativly cheap parts
i would pick the 4th gen or the 6th gen.. i dont care for 5th gens because theres too many.. except for del sols, but thats a whole other story haha. sols can be quick, my buddy has a GSR sol and its fast as hell. plus they just look sooooo sexxy.. but only you can pick your car and be happy with it, people on the internet can only give you information

I see more 6th gens than I do 5th gens. For example, think about just active members on this forum... there's way more 6th gens on here than 5th gens.

-What kind of mods do you want to do?
I'm not sure what mods I would be doing at this point. Basics, including intake and exhaust, but that's all I know for sure so far. I won't have the money for a car until the end of the summer, but I'm wanting to try and get as much info as possible beforehand.
Where's a good place to buy from? I've been looking on ebayMotors & Craigslist, but not sure if I'm missing some Civic shopping center.

88-91's were great. I had an 88 Si, a 90 DX and an 89 CRX Si. all awesome cars. to this day, one of the top 3 cars I've owned was the CRX.
my other top 3 were a 91 Accord EX Coupe 5sp and a 71 Challenger R/T 340.
now I'm looking at an 07 Si Coupe. love the looks and for me, a really comfortable car. at my age, its all about COMFORT!

It used to be like this for me but I think everyone crashed theirs. I only know of 2 or 3 92-95 Civics in this area of 75,000+ people
