Default Warranty

I expect to pick up my '07 Civic Ex this week. I'm new to Hondas as well as this forum. My first question has to do with extended warranties. With everything I have read concerning the Civic, it's rated top of the line for dependability, workmanship, etc(according to Consumer Reports). The dealer wants $1100 for 5 yr/75000 extended warranty. Is an extended warranty necessary or just throw the dice and take my chance? What's been your experience with the Civics? My Civic will be my commute vehicle about 50 miles a day, mostly highway driving. My son has a '99 Civic Ex with 150,000 miles. He had an extended warranty that he utilized once for a broken seat latch and that was it.

they're nice to have in just in case

when i bought my 98 coupe from the dealer (certified used), i opted for the 7 year/100,000 certified extended warranty... and cashed in on it right at the 99k mark for a timing belt that went a bit premature...

I guess I should look at it like an ins policy, hope you don't have to use it but nice to have if you need it.

Thanks

I also just purchased the 07 Ex and I took the 7year/100,000mile package with lojack. To me it is well worth the extra $15 a month.....

On civics you dont really need the warranty, but if it makes you more safe and secure, go for it.

You guys mention a 7/100k warranty. I got the "extended warranty" for $1060 and they said it was 6/80k. Oh, is there any specific paperwork specifically for the extended warranty?
