is it even worth my time to do anyhitng to a d16y7 engine?

yes, im building one....the only difference between the y7 and y8 are vtech head, (vtech its self odviously) and the intake manifold style. (which can be swaped.) I have heard that if you turbo w/o vtech, its better, due to the fact of less boost spikes. and less instant power being applied. (full boost on a "big" turbo will hit at about the same time vtech does, or at least thats what i was told) but i dont like vtech much any way, i dont really notice a difference in power only the exhaust tone....

alright thanks. i keep reading all this stuff about other engines, and no one ever really mentions the y7 very much.
