Auto tranny BOV
Ok so today i was involved in a convo about auto trannies and turbos. Is it true that since the tranny is auto the throttle plate never closes........which means the BOV will not go off? What are the facts here......i was sayin it would go off.....but my buddy said other.......anyone runnin an auto turbo?
You'd think it would because if you are in the higher rpms, and you're sucking in tons of air, and it shifts, which causes the engine to slow down a considerable a mount, you are thus sucking in less air, but since the turbo is still spooling really fast and pushing tons of air out, it should open the bov. I drive a stick though, so I'm not the right person to ask. That's just my 2 cents.
it would make plenty of noise. just not always at shifts. at a low street setting on a civic, i doubt there would be enough pressure to open it without the plate closing during shifts. but when you let off the gas, it would make the full sound. my work truck is an auto-turbo diesel, and though it doesnt have a BOV, it definately does NOT lose spool on shifts. if anything, the slip of the convertor lets it spool a little more during shifts.
so sacs are u sayin if u boost my auto i will most definetly have the sound from the bov?......i mean im not turboing my car JUST for that.......but if the bov wont engage id just trade my car for a manual ex or even si.
