Default b16a1 turbo

Allright, this spring I'm putting a b16 a1 into my 90 civic hb si. I want to boost it right away. I'm using that holy moly kit I found on ebay with the t3 turbo, etc. I was looking into fuel managment and noticed everything is for obd1!!!! Is there any fuel managment out there I can use on my obd0 ecu?

Hey i have a b16a2 - ive been searchin for a good turbo kit to buy, i went on ebay found one like the one you found for 999 - 1200 US with everything. sold by either SSCHROME or one of those supplies saying HOLY MOLY, SUPER SICK, HUGE TURBO.....do not get these kits...i have read up and done much research into this and alot of the guys on this have told me bad news about turbos cracking in half, leaking, welds braking.

get a named brand turbo kit...ive found a greddy one with everything to DIY.

heres the link with some info on the Bad turbo kits:

https://www.hondacivicforum.com/m_81729/tm.htm

also with boosting i have been told that it is safe to run a Apexi Vafc on a standard Ecu with a turbo kit running maxium 7psi and it should be safe but nothing over 7psi. - i could be wrong, but thats what i have been told.

Yeah, I bet they suck. They look too good to be true. I had apexi vafc on my 93 ex coupe that was boosted 13 psi! I didn't like it that much, I think stand alones are better, or maybe just another piggy back. . .

No, No, I really do!!! I have an idea of whgat you'll say! That website says obd0 non vtec. I want to boost a b16a1. You know if that obd0 - obd1 conversion harness and is all I need to convert my car? Don't I have to do something about the cable clutch? If that's the case I'll do a gsr swap instead!

You might wanna think about putting a thicker head gasket on it to lower the compression.

ssautochrome turbo kits are garbage. The manifold will crack due to heat and the weight of the actual turbo. I have heard of the wastegates failing too. Read their Negitive feedbacks and youll see whats up

Well ok, I think they are absolute junk. I have seen people completely ruin a nice turbo setup because of faulty fuel management. The Apexi V-AFC/S-AFC are piggybacks onto the factory ecu. They are used to make fuel adjustments and are often used in mild turbo setups. However the AFC is not able to control the spark which is where it really falls short of hondata and other engine management systems. Also if you have an obd1 vehicle, then go ahead and do it right with hondata. It is not much more expensive than the AFC. Or if you would swap to obd1 go uberdata, in the end it is your best bet for fuel management.

I agree with md420.......if you're gonna spend the cash to go turbo, then it's not the time to go cheap. Spend a little extra cash and do it properly to avoid problems further down the road. Wait a little longer and save up more cash if you have to......it'll be worth the wait.
