Best Turbo Kit?
Hi,
Im looking to throw in a turbo kit for my civic. Problem is that im not sure which one i should get. Ill be doing a little drag and thats it. Ive got a 98 Civic EX Coupe with a 1.6L VTech. I'd like something that will make a huge increase in takeoff and speed when im getting on it. Please let me know.
Thanks

There is no "best turbo kit". You pick a turbo based on power goals, money, size/fitment, where you want it to spool, etc.

Meanwhile, what are your power goals?
Do you know what you are doing or is turbo new territory to you? (sounds like it is...)
How much are you looking to spend?
P.S. it's "VTEC". "VTech" is company makes cordless house phones.

Well for a budget, im looking to spend around $3000. I'd like the inner cooler behind the grill and not in the hood since im running carbon fiber. Im looking for one that will increase speed in drag alot. Im not to worried about anything else.

Any turbo will increase speed in drag a lot.
Can you answer the questions? I asked them so that we can get some info from you so we can help you. We need to know how much power you need to be able to help you. "alot" to one person can be a little to another. Some numbers would give us a better idea.

You are not ready to boost your Civic, end of story.
Do your own research first, and ask specifics later. It's painfully obvious that you've done nothing to advance your knowledge on the topic.
I say just strap on a Nitrous system, crank that **** up and drag race till it explodes

Soo.... about one run down a strip?
OP, do research on how turbo systems work, what each part does, and why you need them. Only after knowing all that will you be ready to actually have a turbocharged car. Right now it seems like the only thing you know about turbochargers is that they make cars go fast.

I wanna go faaaaasssssssttttttttt
and I soooo didnt know they made 1.6L phones awesomeeee
anyways Im done poking fun!
step number 1. google search turbocharger read up on what its fuction is.
step number 2. research different companies that make turbos Greddy, Garrett, then you have your off brands that ebay sells.
so on and so forth.
Is your engine built to hold the HP of a turbo or are you slappying it on a stock engine?
Because if you do that and think you can run 20lbs of boost that sh*t will blow up in your face like BAM!
Give us numbers and such to work with here dont just ask a question with out any specifics
Happy day!

Ok, Yes i am a nooish to cars, But no i will not be installing anything lol. Ive read up on civic turbo's. So from what i can see i'd like something with a 7-10PSI Boost with atleast a 80HP Increase. Ill check out the engine and see if it's ready for a turbo. Anything specific i should check? I know its a brand new vtec so ill have to look into that.
