Boosting a D15B8?

I am contemplating boosting my 92 hatch with a D15B8. 70 horsepower, it's slow, trust me.
For the money, would I be better to just swap in a B16a2 for 3000ish and then somewhere down the road turbo it, or just turbo it now.
How much am I looking at for a 'decent' turbo kit. I say decent because I don't intend on racing persay, just need enough power to not be embarassed anymore on the streets. Since my car is a little flashy people love to show it up.
So, B16a2 now or turbo stock D15B8?

Pro's and con's would be nice too. Thanks a lot.

B16 is a lot of fun. Vtec kicks in. Indy car status;). Turbo, eh... Id say get the B16 then save up. You'll have enough fun with vtec. Once you get sick of vtec you will have enough money for a turbo.

RE: Boosting a D15B8?

I would boost another D-series, such as a D16Z6 or JDM D15B, but that's just what I like.

The B16 is more efficient. But that's about it.

RE: Boosting a D15B8?

Yea, I was leaning towards the b16.. turboing a 70hp seems stupid now that I seen my post.
How do most of you guys go about ordering your engines, go to the shop and have them order it or order online.
If you guys could give me some good sites to order off of that would be great. (I'm from Canada so keep that in mind for shipping)
Also do I need anything else for the swap besides what the 'kit' comes with? I'm aware most kits don't come with the shift linkage and axles. Is that all I need?
Thanks

RE: Boosting a D15B8?

boost the d. all d series parts like manifolds are interchangable. so boost it nowand build up a nice z6 with forged everything then swap it in when its done. then retune with a lot of boost. it will make you happy

RE: Boosting a D15B8?

if you can shop around to get a deal it can cost you less than a b16 swap

How does this look for a complete swap?
http://www.jazzproparts.com/ProductD...ductCode=B16a2

I would just like to buy the B series to have the immediate power then if I need to upgrade and get a turbo.

yea, i dont know wut hes talking about 1400, but thats wut i plan to get in the near future, pretty good price concidering it comes with about 90 % of the stuff u need, other stuff might add up during the swap, say the clutch is worn might wanna replace that, hoses, wires etc.

In a month or two i'll probably getting it from this website http://www.jazzproparts.com/ProductD...ductCode=B16a2 ,
That is unless a shop can get it for me for cheaper.

RE: Boosting a D15B8?

Good call on that one, didn't see that it came with everything. My mistake, I"m still up in the air about the engine swap. I may just wait and get another civic in 1-3 years down the road and make that a total sleeper. But, I could just buy the engine now for this car and swap it to the other car in a few years I guess. We'll see.
After all, I'm 18 and can't afford any speeding tickets.
