i am planning on putting a turbo on a d16y8. stock internals. what is the highest psi i can run aturbo at without damaging my turbo?

Just a heads up, if you're looking for max PSI...you're motor would probabaly blow before you turbo did.

 

no, you don't need an intercooler, but you do want one. A certain level of pressure is not going to damage a turbo, it will damage your motor. The most you should run unintercooled on a T25 is around 4-5 psi.

 

Don't worry about your turbo, it won't have a problem. It's your engine that needs the care.

 

4-5 lbs of boost? No way...it will handle atleast 7-8 without NEEDING an intercooler if tuned properly and running premium gas.

And like said... dont worry about that turbo. The motor will let you know when you are half way close to hurting the turbo, lol.

Yeah, more or less. Roto you have to remember that he's got an M45 on his car. He's all about high IATs. [8D] Haha!

Get an intercooler... and really need to do your research.

 

IIRC he's also running water injection...so he's got a chemical intercooler

 

true I have it... but im at 10 lbs of boost with a roots blower...apples and oranges. A turbo setup on a tuned 4 banger can handle 7-8 in my opinion.

 

I didn't say it can't, I just said it was unjustifyable stress...I would not want to run all day long with ridiculously high temps... an intercooler can be had for like $80 at a junkyard ($85 in my case) and some pipe for like $30-50 if you don't go fancy and do crush bent...no reason not to do it.
