greddy turbo
im planning to get a greddy turbo for my civic si 99, but what else do i have to buy besides the turbo kit, cause i heard u have to reinforce a lot of ****, does anyone know what the final price might come out to be or what elese i have to do and reinforce and all that tune up crap.
you should get bigger injectors, there are dsm 450s or you can get rc injectors. rc are a straight drop in where as with 450s you have to add a reisitor box and do some wiring. then you have to get a chipped p28 ecu for engine management and find someone to do a basemap for you according to your set up. then you need an air filter, im not sure if the greddy kit comes with one. another thing is the intercooler, you will need to get one of these. you will need a boost gauge and then i would suggest getting an oil press and an egt gauge if money persists. i would invest in getting a new exhaust manifold gasket which you can pick up at napa, do not go to autozone or advanced for this. you will need a breather to put over the nipple on the valve cover. i would suggest getting a Golden Eagle vac manifold to hook all the vac lines up to, it will make things a lot easier to do. i think thats about it, if you want you can upgrade your fuel pump to a walboro 255 but it is not necessary. last thing is the most important thing, you will need a tune. you should not hit boost until you go get a tune. depending on your area im sure there is someone that knows how to tune a boosted honda or at least a close city. free programs to tune on are Crome or Neptune. all of this will probably be around 2300-2500, just depending on what kind of deals you get. hope this helps.
I just installed a greddy turbo, manifold and downpipeon my 2000 si and pieced together the rest of the kit. If you just get the base greddy kit, it doesnt come with an intercooler or the piping needed to run an intercoolerso you will need to pick that up somewhere. You will also need some fuel management. I would suggesta chipped p28 ecu (you will need a conversion harness going from obd2b-obd1)and tune it with chrome or uberdata etc. Most people will tell you to get dsm 450cc injectors that will cost you around $100 with a resistor box. I say save yourself the trouble and spend the money togetRC or Precision injectors and forget about the resistor box.I would also suggest trying to find a good used greddy kit somewhere as the new ones are pretty expensive and you can spend about half the $ for one with a few thousand miles on it.My used greddy kit had about 1200 miles on it and came with the 18g turbo, manifold, downpipe, some of the piping that comes with the intercooler kit, the intake assebly, oil lines, tapped oil panand a greddy type-s bov, all in very nice conditionfor $700, just to give you an idea of the kind of cash you can save.

the base greddy kit does come with piping if i remember correctly, it just doesnt come with the intercooler

and whats an egt gauge? Engine temp?
And wow, $700 on a GReddy kit? Good job on that one man
Other than that Typer and Red2000 have you got covered. As a side note the p06 ECU is non-VTEC and the p28 is VTEC-equipped and since you have an SI you have VTEC, so make sure to get the p28.
