Ok, I'll probably catch some grief for posting this since I'm sure it's already been talked about somewhere. But the truth is I know dick about cars, engines, etc. so I wouldn't know what to search for...

I have an automatic '02 Civic EX. Completely stock. I want to know everything possible that I can have done to it to make it as fast as possible; I have around $10K to spend on it. I've heard about K20 swaps (from what little I know that's the SI engine, right?), and turbo kits. Is it possible to do both? What other parts/accessories would be great? Thanks in advance, and I apologize for the possible repeat post. P.S. I'd like to keep it as an automatic as well.

 

you wont get anywhere keeping it automatic.

if you want to do an kseries engine swap your goin to have to change it over to manual. and the swap is outrageously expensive

 

I've heard about "shift kits" (I think was the term) that you can do to make an automatic shift faster than humanly possible. There isn't anything like that available for a civic?

With 10k you should just drop it off at your local tuner with a blank checkand tell them how fast you want it.

 

but i think they'd laugh at trying to keep it auto.

and no i highly doubt anyone would concieve a shift kit.

 

swap in a manual tranny, rebuild your internals and turbo it. A K swap will give you some carzy good gains, but takes lots of time/money/knowledge. $10K is alot, you could get that thing to rip pretty good

 

You want a fast civic, have ten grand, and want to keep your 02 auto?

Spend three grand on an EG, or EK.
Swap in b18C for three grand.
Rims and tires for a grand.
A grand or so for a turbo and supporting mods.


8.5k, and your keep your current car auto

 

better yet get a CRX shell, swap in a z6, boost it, and have a crazy fast car to take out to the track. With 10K it could be a really sweet set-up...
