How much can it take!

RE: How much can it take!
HP is a made up number, all dyno's get hp from the tq numbers. Boost pressure is so different from one application to the next that it is a very un-reliable way to measure the ability of any engine. You can have a t25 pumping 12psi of boost and it is going to be nothing compared to a gt35 or a t3/t4 pushing the same psi. Finding the point inwhich any engine gives out is alot more than a numbers game. The care that has went into the engine plays just as big of a roll as the tuning. Now on average it is looked at as the D16's can hang around 200 to 220whp while still being in a "safe zone" when tuned correctly. But that is not to say that 200 to 220whp is the max you can run on a D16 in stock form and have it be reliable.
Ok now, you see that 200 to 220whp range there. Now it does not matter how much boost it takes you to get to that point as long as it is tuned correctly. You can run 1 bar(14.7psi) with a t25 and make those numbers or you can run 10psi with a t3 to make those numbers. It does not matter as long as it is tuned correctly and the engine is in proper working condition.

MD knows his stuff. A stock D can hold 200WHP on a good tune. I am running 8PSI on stock motor and stock fuel injectors........and im using greddys blue box for fuel management. As soon as i get my 5 speed swap im getting a walbro 255 lph fuel pump, RC injectors, and a 200 whp tune. I believe my car will be very reliable...........im going to go to a master tuner in PA. Oh and 97turbocivic i will crank the boost, but i gotta wait, as i need better fuel management.

The guy that tunes it for me said he wants to take it over 10psi but, i dont know. the compressions good and im not running lean at all. Im getting plenty of fuel. i know it wont blow right now but if i go over 10psi will it blow.

Its a greddy kit but, im not sure which one. I bought the car with the turbo on it but it was running so lean that the EGT was running way to hot so I took it to a shop that i know and trust and he is tunning it for me. I have to buy bigger axles, clutch and lsd before i can get into any real engine management but, I have the apexi v-afc and the alcohol injection which really does help the fuel alot.
