Can I tell you that I love being able to post in this section?

Anyway, it's on and runnin. That things makes me nervous (for now). I babied it all the way in to work because I didn't have a chance to test drive it. But, I am happy to report- no leaks, temp looks good, and through some miracle- no CEL's!!

I am being super cautious with it right now until I get used to it and/or get it tuned. I backed the timing waaaayyyy off, put in a colder plug and I have a 160 themostat but I don't think I can change it without taking the blower off so I am just gonna watch the temp gauge like a hawk. I still need to put in a bigger fuel pump (Walbro 255), maybe next week, and then I might be able to advance the timing a little. Detonation is bad, people!

I kinda messed up and put it on with the 10 pound pulley thinking I could just change it later. Well, it turns out that you have to take the whole thing off to change the pulley. Screw that. I was gonna run it anyway after I got used to the 6 pounder. I'm not gonna say it was easy, but it wasn't hard, even though I had to do it by myself and I had never even changed an intake manifold before. It took me about 7 hours, with one hour running back and forth to the parts store for random crap (gaskets, coolant, power steering fluid).

Even though I didn't even get past half throttle, that thing is awesome. You can't even hear it. I don't know if it's becasue my exhaust is so loud or what, but that is good (sleeper). I smoothed it out to about 5 grand and then you can hear it start to whine. It sounds kinda like a far off siren, whhhhhrrrrrrr. I thought a cop was behind me, but it was just the blower saying hello.

It's not what I expected. I mean I wasn't expecting a big spool up and burst of power like a turbo, but if I didn't tell you it was there you wouldn't know I had it. It's that smooth. It just feels like I have twice the motor.

I am being realistic with my expectations. Anything around 150-160whp and low 15's. You know I will keep you guys posted.

Say good-bye to the 16 in my avatar. "Bye-bye 16, go bother a newb."

You should really look into a wideband on there to see how safe yo can turn up the timing

No "Check Engine Lights"

Great to hear it is going good for you but I advise you to get that walbro on before any real hard pulls in it cause it will lean out bad in the upper rpm's.What kinda management you running?

Dude, congratulations. Sounds awesome. Are you still under your self-imposed budget for the HCF Challenge?

Unfortunately, No. The SC put me just over my budget, not including peripheral stuff that I had to get. Jackson Racing says that the I/H/E I have on there now doesn't help much (if at all) so if I went back to stock I would be less than $100 over my initial budget restriction. Also though, without money for tuning and a larger fuel pump and possibly injectors, I don't think I would be able to get to 15 flat.

I made a run with the stock fuel pump because JR says that a new larger one is recommended but not necessary and I had some gnarly misfires in the higher rpm's. I ran it at WOT, quickly let off, killed the engine, and coasted to a stop to get a look at the plugs, and there was some glazing. Not good.

I just installed the 255 fuel pump today (DIY coming soon) and ran it up into the rpms and I still got some misfires, although not as bad. Anybody know if a fuel pump needs a break-in to work to max efficiency? It does feel like it is running better (stronger) with the new fuel pump, though it could just be subjective.

Ok, turbo tuners. Here's where you chime in on how to tune this thing. Let's hear it.

See I called it, what fuel pressure regulator are you running and what size injectors.....one of these or both could cause the lack of fuel/mis-firing at higher rpm also

Well, my kit came with a Jackson auxilliary FPR that I put in line before the stock FPR. It obviously isn't working well enough. I now have a Vortech 12:1 rising rate FMU going on today or tomorrow. That had better solve my underfueling problems. Anybody know where that thing goes? Gauges going on this weekend too. I am sticking with the stock injectors for now because I heard that an FMU and larger injectors would be overkill for my set-up. You know I'll keep you guys informed.
