Default Junkyard turbocharger

Today I went to the junkyard to get me some teggy parts, found all that I needed, but also found a Benz of some sort (crashed badly, can't tell WTF it is) but there's a turbo sitting in it...I wonder if I should go for it or not...they said they'll take $100 for it

Go for it! If you don't use it, you can always try to sell it on here or on eBay.

I think the most important thing to check is if there's any play on the shaft.

check for oil leaks if possible, look for cracked or damaged blades, and housing

Oil lines are missing...should I just pour oil into it?

what i would do, is yea, pour a bit of oil in to it, and with your finger turn the blades over a little bit, then check for any oil residue.

Umm, I dont' think you can juts pour oil in it since there shold be fittings for the oil lines and you can't exactly just put a funnel to them. Just inspect it really well when you get it off. There shouldn't be any runs of oil on it, shaft play is the first sign of wear. Like Fast93 said, check for cracked blades and/or cracks in the housing. Try to get a look at what kind of turbo it is and then look it up.

Go over to HomeMadeTurbo, I think they have an article on what to look for when pulling a turbo out of the junkyard.
