Mini me or no?
Well i have all my turbo stuff, tranny stuff along with 5 spd conversion, and internal and valvetrain mods all decided upon but i still am not sure what i should do about the non v tec y7 and a mini me. I could easily do a mini me swap w/ a z6 or y8 but should I? Ive been told v tec is not that big of a deal with turbo cars and its just another thing that can fail, which is true. So basically all im looking for is a yes or no and why? Please any help is appreciated and i would like to hear some reasons for either choice.
i bought a vtec head, it came unassembled and missing parts, other than that i decided not to do it cause in the long run its better to di a swap, if u have a low mielage motor then its an ok investment, but if u have high mielage id jus go with a jdm swap, thats jus my opinion tho, if ur gunna do it urself then it maybe be worth it, if ur gunna pay some one then go with the fullswap
I know the y7 blocks have oil problems so does anyone know how i could take care of that? My engine has 80K on it and its running like a champ so i would like to stay with that over swapping a bunch of stuff with a mini me. Im going to get a y8 intake mani though as its been proven to flow much better. Also if i stay away from the z6 or y8 head i wont be able to use the akmee kit i was going to get so what cam, came gear, valvetrain would you recommend?
VTEC heads have more aftermarket, so it's not a bad idea to go with one. You're only going to benefit from them, but if you get one get a Z6 head and save yourself the nightmares.
As far as the Yseries oil pumps, you have to port them.

That hole that you see there needs to be ported out and made larger to allow more oil to pass through. When you pull yours off you'll see just how small that hole starts out at, whatever you do, plug the pump so you don't get shavings in there!!!
