multiple turbos?
That would be a sequential twin setup. Some sequentials use two different sized turbos (a small one that spools up quick and a large one that spools up slower for more all-around power) while others use two identical snails; one creates an initial amount of boost, and the other compresses the air even further.
The alternative style of twins is a parallel setup like I'll be doing; two identical turbos separate from one another where each turbo uses exhaust flow from half the cylinders.
Like I said, though... with an inline configuration, you might as well just get a hybrid turbo like a t3/t4; you'll get the same result.

There's exceptions to every rule. But I'd like to point out what most people with 2jz-gte's and rb26dett's (the RB20det never came with a twin-turbo setup
) usually do. They scrap the stock twin setup and switch to a single huge turbo.
For a 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, or 2.2 liter inline four, I wouldn't recommend any form of twin turbos; there's a difference in exhaust flow among the 1.6l D16, 2.6l RB, and 3l 2jz
