how exactly did you friend check the bottom end and tell you it was good to go?? Anyways, stock block can handle 6-8 safely, after that you want to look into upgrading down there

I think everyone here is wrong so far. I may not have a boosted civic here but I know from what I've researched, and with proper tuning and engine management you can boost way well above 6-8 psi on a stock bottom end. You may need to upgrade head studs, but like I said, with proper tuning, timing, fuel, and engine management you canATLEAST make 200+whp on that bottom end. If you dont believe me, go to honda-tech.com and search boosted sohc's and you'll see what A LOT of them guys have been able to do. You'd be suprised.
