The 1g DSM 14b turbo would actrually suit you pretty good. They have caried DSM's into the 10's and are good to about 17psi reliably which sould be great on a civic. Also they are internally wastgatted so its an easy and cheep settup. Just slap it on throw fuel to it with a rise and rate regulater and a BOV and your set. Hear is proof of the 10's http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/memb...ls&userid=1715

I'm not trying to say that 14b's are bad, but with that internal waste gate it will be hard to fabricate a down pipe for, plus only 3/4 bolts are used to attach them to exhaust manifolds. Also I want something that will spool later on. I found this larger turbo off of a 88' Ford Thunderbird Super Couple I think that looks priety good. But I might still look around. Oh and MY99SI I am awaire about compressor surge and have read up on how-to's and everything about turbo's and I already have a gen. 1 eclipse b.o.v. , but thanks for the info any way, I am sure there are plenty of people that do not know about that stuff.

3 bolts as far as i know there are 3 bolts and 1 stud holding the turbo to the manifold. but im not so sure when i ran one on my eclipse for a year and a half untill i then switched to my BIG16G. Why would it be hard to make a DP from that turbo its a pretty standard 2 bolt flange and get a gasket and weld a straight pipe comming down as far as you need then get a 90deg elbow and a pipe running back to where ever you need it. Whale your at making a manifold i would make a custom O2 housing with a O2 dump on it and you can make it with any sort of a flange on it any way. Something like this but not for a DSM http://www.dsmtuners.com/parts/produ...products_id=48. Good luck

Alright good points, but most after-market exhaust manifolds that let you keep your a/c only work with T3 turbos. You can use a HF manifold to mount a 14b onto a civic but you will not be able to keep your a/c, and I want to still be able to use my a/c once the turbo is on. Also I want a larger turbo that will spool later on, like around 3500-4k rpm.

"ford put them in the thunderbird super coupe. you could find one of those pretty easy and its a good sized T3 turbo. "-Clean98EX

actually they ran superchargers in the super coupe, your gonna have to go back a few years and find the older style turbo coupe or svo mustang, 88 was the last year for turbos on the tbirds

I did find a turbo off of a 88' Ford T-Bird turbo coupe, but I don't think its the garret T3 turbo like the previous years had.

Thats a good point about the A/C. There will also be many more manifolds with the t3 flange instead of the mitsu flange. What is your reasining for sppoing so late, your not trying to put down 600WHP.

PS> you could always make your own manifold. aslo in your case with you stock exhaust a 14b would probably onlt spool like 2,800-2,900RPS due to so small of exhaust also if you make the runners for the manifold smaller it will slow the spool up time down to and run a large FMIC. would take care of that.

Lol, no 600whp for me, more like just under 200 whp would be nice. But any way, thats another good reason why I want to go with the larger T3's, they have lots of aftermarket manifold for them, and they let me keep my a/c. The reason I want a larger turbo is so my b.o.v. isn't goining off all the time between lights, and so fuel economy doesn't suffer as much, like on the freeway my car is at 3200rpm cruising I don't want to be at full spool. Also I am not much of a fabricator to make a custom manifold. I will probably just buy a log manifold off of lsdmotorsports for like $300. I just need to find a good used T3 turbo from a junkyard so my civic can run faster than a 16.2 1/4 mile just like yours did larsenracing.

You turbo really only spools hard when you are on the gas. A trubo really only spools and kinda works with the stress or work of the motor. so to kinda make sence of this basicly the harder you push the pedal down the faster the boost comes up. On my DSM i can run around town all day with out hearing my HKS SSQV if i dont get on it hard before shifting and when crusing i run -15 on the vacume meeter what ever it is read it (Hv)??? the only time it starts boosting is under acceleration not holding speeds. I hope this helps if not let me know and ill try to explain it better.

Ok, yeah that makes sence to me, thanks. But do you think that a 14b turbo would hold good power till 7200 rpm?
