RE: No Boost
^He is 100% correct....you could see maybe 1 lb of boost but youd have to rev it high, and the boost guage would move so fast youd barely see it go past 0. Just get it tuned and go from there, thats the safest bet.

RE: No Boost

RE: No Boost
to elaborate a little more..
when the engine is idling, theres exhaust gas going out of the engine into the manifold and through the turbo. the gas thats leaving is spinning the turbo. so when you rev it up, there's more exhaust gas being made which can spin it faster and move more air. when you close the throttle plate, the air has to go somewhere. if you didnt have a bov, the air that you've already moved would start to pile up on itself and have no where to go. that air would have to find a way out b/c you can only put so much air in one spot. that air after it starts pileing up on itself will get backed up all the way back to the turbo and go out through the inlet of the turbo, also known as compressor surge. |
RE: No Boost
ORIGINAL: Littlehag I guess I don't understand how the turbo can move air into the engine but no make boost? If you could elaborate a little more... I had another off topic question that i'll throw out there, do I need the check valve (in the pic ^^) for my map sensor? I thought thats how the engine knew how much fuel to add. Thanks for the info so far! by the way my99si, I see that you're located in lima, oh. lol, thats funny cause I'm up in defiance. I go to the university of northwestern. |
