PM ntxmotorsports... he knows all about nitrous. Stick with NOS, Zex, or Nitrous Express IMO

i had a 50 shot of NOS on my 00 si. it is hella fun but:
1. if you have a stock clutch, it will go out quick.
2. dont run more than a 75 shot, i reccomend a 50 or 60, longetivity is more important than one fun pass.
3. you WILL have traction problems, you should invest in an LSD, i.e. type r trans.
4. refills are frickin expensive!!!
That said, have fun with it if you choose to go that route, but i'd reccomend saving the refill money for a turbo kit.

a buddy of mine put a 75 shot and he took it out the day he got it on the highway and we were racing so he hit the nos and the motor blew up on him right in the middle of the highway. he said that he held the button to long but i dont know if that would do anything but i would go with a turbo kit first, and just like sacicons said you would have to get a new clutch and the LSD conversion and all that stuff, but i hope you have fun with your choice

i heard about a guy with a stock CRX who installed a nos kit, then he asked someone who thought he knew what he was doing what jets to run. well, he didnt know what he was doing. lets just say that 100 shot is a little much for a crx. he pulled up to one of the first red lights he came to.... right next to a type r... i guess he pulled a little ahead at first... then he blew the bottom end out all over the road... its okay though, the guy in the type r stopped and helped him push it off the road and let him use his cell phone[:@] hey importman, was that in an si or what?

as far as holding the button down too long. that could prove to be true as the more nitrous time, the hotter the combustion chamber will get. nitrous burns hotter than forced induction.

a friend of mine has a 2000 SI. And he put a Nitrous express kit in the car. And I swear he only used maybe 4 or 5 times and the stock clutch was toast. He could not put the car in reverse at all for like 2 weeks till a new clutch came.

My advice is also upgrade the clutch first.

first i must point out that NOS is a company that sells Nitrous. it is NOT nitrous itself. People use those two terms interchangably and they shouldn't.

2- nitrous is a waste of money IMO. Save up, but the edelbrock turbo kit for the Si. One time expense, no refills necessary.
3- bye bye clutch, as they all said. Oh and possibly bye bye transmission too...
4- In addition to not having any traction and the clutch going bye bye, your tires will begin to wear heavily and your engine mounts will take a beating.
5- Make sure cops aren't **** in your area, Nitrous is illegal for street use in most places.
6- get a wet kit, much much easier to keep tuned than a dry kit. It's also safer as the fuel is mixed with the nitrous Lean=boom, rich=good
7- you'll need gauges, A/F, temp, fuel, etc

Lastly, if you buy a kit. HAVE IT PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not supposed to be a DIY weekend install.
