Default Octane

I have a d15b turbo civic with a 14b turbo. Stock internals, the previous owner told me he dyno tuned it on 94 octane, so all I've ever bought is 94 octane except a few occasions because the only store that sells it closes early. I have a friend telling me to run regular octane, trying to convince me that unless my internals are changed or something to do with compression, I don't need 94 octane. What should I use?

Youre running boost. You want to run the high octane. The octane rating has to do with the resistance to detonation. You dont want detonation. You run boost? Get good gas. End of story.

run what the car was tuned to, pre detonation = bad

running gas car was tuned for = happy motor

if its impossible to get that gas just get 93 or whatever is closest, do not listen to your retarded friend that knows nothing about cars

Yeah always run the best octane you can on the boost, your motor will be happy. I personally run 93 in my non turbo civic lol.

Are you being serious or joking because i get better gas milage with the better gas and i just like good gas since it tends to burn better.

Doesnt our cars have knock sensors and the ability to take advantage of the better gas? I did some test on long drives and i got better milage with the 93 octane over the 89 that i used to run.
